Abstract

This session presents new research on prosopographical questions concerning Lotharingia in the 9th and 10th century. Based on diplomatics Elina Screen will consider the special possibilities which the analysis of royal charters can present for current prosopographical questions concerning the Carolingian empire and especially Lotharingia between 820 and 855. Analysing the Liber memorialis of Remiremont with a more statistical methodology Albrecht Brendler's paper will consider the question whether there are correlations of anthroponymy and the provenance of laymen mentioned in the Liber. Thorsten Fischer will focus his attention on the representation of aristocratic families in the Liber memorialis.
