| Abstract | The Early Middle English Society, which promotes the scholarly discussion of English literary and cultural production from the late 12th century to the mid-14th century, hosts a session of papers dealing with the idea of travel. Reaching beyond conventional disciplinary, chronological, linguistic, and geographical borders of Early Middle English studies, these papers address, respectively, an example of cross-cultural congruity between very disparate literary traditions – Early Middle English and Arabic; the correspondence between cross-cultural communication in an Early Middle English crusader narrative and the inter-cultural circumstances of its modern edition; and the cultural and literary implications of the visual translation of a group of Early Middle English saints' lives. |
