Abstract

Cultural contact and exchange in 15th-century Europe inspired many texts labelled as 'travelogues'. The session will show the different approaches of literary and cultural history studies towards this genre with a focus on texts from such diverse cultural contexts as Italy, Spain, and Germany. The interdisciplinary discussion of the underlying narrative structures and the impact on scientific discourses of the Renaissance will broaden the understanding of the genre in general.
