Abstract

In the Nibelungenlied a great treasure plays an important role, as a material treasure, as a topic that is important for the structure of the epic and as a symbol for power in political and private affairs. The papers of this session will present ideas about the historical sources of the material treasure, about other phenonema of wealth in the epic and about ideal and cultural wealth of the whole subject of the Nibelungen-story also in later centuries.
