| Abstract | Both in theoretical writings about theatre and within medieval plays we can observe a certain concern of the playwrights and theologians about the emotions that a spectator might experience from any kind of performance. The holy and unholy pleasures of spectacula are often difficult to distinguish from each other. The papers in this session analyze how the interferences of holy bliss and vicious lust are described, justified or condemned directly or indirectly in plays and tracts. |
