Abstract

This session explores portraits of Christ drawn within mystical texts, and how mystical texts develop Christology in radical directions. In this vein, the papers consider the power implications of devotion to and longing for Christ, exploring models of spiritual hierarchy and what is meant by 'absolute' power, as well as the place of meditation and the challenges presented to the filial relationship between the Father and the Son by images of daughtership.
