Abstract

Texts played a starring role in medieval heresy, whether they were employed in attempts at its repression, composed for and by members of a particular sect, or stood independently as a heresy in their own right. This session looks at heresy in its many textual manifestations, looking at particular manuscript traditions, how texts were utilised within heretical sects, how medieval writers and thinkers composed works against heresy, and how inquisitors and other church authorities dealt with heretical texts long since separated from their human authors.
