Abstract

The Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources aims to contain all given (fore, Christian) names recorded in European sources written between 600 and 1600. The first edition of the Dictionary is scheduled to appear in January 2015 and this session at Leeds will introduce the Dictionary to the wider medieval community as well as explore phenomenon that the onomastic data collected in the Dictionary illustrates and consider the technological questions involved in preparing and launching such a project.
