Abstract | Every powerful ruler in the West had a strong land base. However the fisc, its features and management did not remain static through the age considered, neither they were the same in every region. This session will put in contrast diverging arrangements and processing paths adopted in Carolingian and non-Carolingian areas. Paper -a will focus on the transition from 8th to 9th century in Northern Italy following the Carolingian conquest. Paper -b will investigate coeval transformations in Lombard Southern Italy. |
