Abstract

An analysis of the 13th century probably Cistercian manuscript in its context, with particular attention to the Historiated Initials of St Anselm and Eadmer. The theological importance of Eadmer's Tractatus de Conceptione, extending Anselm's views to present the conception of the Virgin as a theology of popular devotion. Response to and discussion of all five papers in the two Eadmer sessions.
