Organiser:Aglaia Bianchi, _Archivum Medii Aevi Digitale_ Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur Mainz

Abstract

Inspired by the upcoming Archivum Medii Aevi Digitale, a repository with a science blog in medieval studies, this round table addresses the topic of publishing and sharing your research with the scientific world nowadays. What other options are there other than the classic print publication? How are new technologies pushing the borders of the scientific publishing world? What opportunities does science blogging offer? How can scholars make sure their research is seen and read? How can we reach and involve the scientific community in a lively dialogue? The scholars participating in this round table will address these questions, bringing in their different expertise and experiences, and focusing especially on quality, dialogue, and transparency, as well as on the role of repositories, blogs, and the internet in changing the landscape of publishing in medieval studies.

Participants include Natalia Filatkina (Akademie der Wissenschaften und Literatur, Mainz / Universität Trier), Steffen Krieb (Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur, Mainz), Florian Nieser (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München), Christof Rolker (Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg), Lena Van Beek (Universität Hamburg), and Charles West (University of Sheffield).
