Abstract

The panel explores the dialectics of political negotiations in the medieval world in relation to the specific places that nurtured such processes. Indeed, understanding the milieux and the internal dynamics of centres of political relevance (such as city councils, royal courts, papal curias, or ecumenical councils) is often key to fully comprehend specific decision-making initiatives or negotiations. Therefore, the papers will delve on processes and case studies of decision-making, or non-violent resolution of political divergencies, in the context of different centres of strategic importance.
