Abstract

The impact of nature, climate, and the environment on daily life was strong in the Byzantine world. Papers in this session analyse the use of natural imagery in religious, literary, and medical texts from the early, middle, and late Byzantine periods and evaluate the significance of the natural world in written expressions of daily life.
