Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in canonical collections as valuable sources for the study of the Middle Ages. A number of new editions that are currently underway or have recently been completed are part of this newly awakened interest. This round table discussion brings together experts in the field who will draw upon their personal experience to discuss the qualities required in canonical editions to meet the demands of the scientific community, how the editors, or rather their work, can achieve these high standards, and the extent to which digital methods play a role in the creation of the editions.

Participants include Ingrid Baumgärtner (Universität Kassel), Roy Flechner (University College Dublin), Ludger Körntgen (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz), Christof Rolker (Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg), and Cornelia Scherer (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg).
