Abstract

These three papers examine the different ways in which imaginary accounts of Disability and impairment provided a means of expressing contemporary concerns, and how this literary use of Disability creates an insight into medieval cultural norms and thought. The papers' literary sources range from French comedy and romance to Christian descriptions of Islam, and provide an opportunity to explore how and when Disability intersected with other social categories of gender, race, and religion.
