Abstract	Old English literature has often been seen as a genre dominated by male figures, both as its focus and in terms of its production. But recently scholarship has suggested that women, particularly those in the monastic context may have had a greater level of involvement with literacy; its production and dissemination than has hitherto been recognised. Moreover, feminist and gender studies are continuing to reveal new insights into the nuanced presentation of women in Old English texts. This session panel takes up the theme of female voice to investigate female expression as subjects of Old English literature and as influences in its production.
