Abstract

Rings in museums, on websites, and publications are often presented as frozen in time and place, sometimes even detached from their possible owners or wearers. This session demonstrates that a closer look at these diminutive artefacts - both precious and mundane - as well as an assessment of their place within the archaeological and written record presents more nuanced stories about how and why these small and sensory items were crafted and were able to forge connections between people and things.
