Abstract

The aim of the session is to show how people of the early modern era perceived medieval art. The papers concern therefore a problem of the borders of time but in some cases of space as well. They shall show on three different examples that despite changed taste and functions of art in the early modern period, an assessment of medieval works was not uniform at all: sometimes was negative, sometimes indifferent but we find also not a little examples of understanding and appreciation of old aesthetic. Different kind of testimonies shall show this phenomenon.
