| Abstract | The first paper addresses the issue of creating and ignoring geographical, temporal, and sovereign borders in the manuscripts of Cristoforo Buondelmonti's Liber insularum Archipelagi. The second paper is dedicated to the perception of the border between astronomy and astrology as two overlapping fields of knowledge in the Middle Ages. The third paper explores the possibility of crossing the intellectual borders exemplified by the infiltration of Italian humanism to late medieval Krakow. The fourth paper will draw attention to new self-image of German humanist scholars at the end of the 15th century, who opened up the the social and cultural boundaries between the strongly clerical milieu of the universities and the world of the courts and the cities. |
