Abstract

Nicholas of Cusa was one of the most important political and ecclesiological thinkers of the 15th century. This session considers Cusa's engagement with Islam and other religions in his celebrated De pace fidei. It also considers the legacy of Cusa's Conciliarism in the 16th century. In doing so, it explores the complex relation between politics and the quest for peace and consensus in the Late Middle Ages.
