| Abstract | This panel examines emotions of marginalised people and social groups working with or being portrayed in literature, and the implications for how we understand their multifaceted characteristics. Nikolsky's paper studies the concept of 'bisīnesse' experienced by Middle English poets, writers, and narrators. Moving from the larger body of penmen to the literary portrayal of one specific social group, Słaboszowska's paper investigates Jan Długosz's depiction of peasants' emotions, while Sheldon looks specifically at marginalised figures and their emotions within narratives, more precisely the maternal love experienced by daughters in Icelandic saga literature. |
