Abstract

The Nordic fragment collections offer a chance to study the everyday books of the parish church, albeit in bits and pieces. Where did the books come from, and what did the average collection of books in a Scandinavian parish church look like? And how can book fragments be connected to a particular church? The papers of this session deal with books that can be connected to specific churches or regions, the manner of their survival and recycling, and the methodological questions relevant for research into book fragments and their contexts.
