Abstract | This panel, organised as a tribute to Emeritus Professor Nigel Saul, coincides with the publication by Boydell and Brewer of a volume recognising his tremendous contributions to the study of later medieval England and to the reign of Richard II. The first paper considers the historiography of that reign as well as methodological approaches to writing medieval biographies. The subsequent papers consider various social and political developments in the period with a particular focus on law and justice. They offer insights into the evidence that can be gleaned from indictment and trial records as well as some of the logistics involved in holding a later medieval Parliament. |
