This session forms part of a four session strand on Dynasty and Court Culture in Byzantium and the Near East. The three papers in this session focus on court women. Eve MacDonald and Domiziana Rossi focus on women at the Sasanian court. Shaun Tougher considers the place of sisters of the Macedonian Dynasty (867-1056) at the Byzantine court. Ewan Short examines imperial women at the Byzantine court in the aftermath of the Macedonian Dynasty.
