Abstract

In our session we will discuss the shaping of networks among noble, urban, and ecclesiastical elites against the background of the multiple crises in Central Europe, and more specifically the Austrian Danube region during the 'long' 15th century. Drawing on approaches from prosopography and historical network analysis we will address different aspects of interactions and relationships among various social groups and their individual representatives. Thereby, two case studies will ascertain the impact of kin relations, gender, political offices, and property devolution on community building of specific social milieus in large and smaller cities as well as in their rural environments.
