Abstract	This session aims to examine how power was perceived and expressed in south-eastern France and north-eastern Iberia during the Early and High Middle Ages. An examination of social behaviour models will be conducted through both ideal literary canons and government practice patterns (or by means of the contrast between the two), to assess their pivotal role in the establishment and perpetuation of medieval political networks, nobility ethos and aristocratic identities.
