Abstract

This session will offer a new exploration of the literary texts and contexts associated with the reign of Alfred the Great. 'Entanglements' is a fitting term for the contacts and interchanges which flourished during the Alfredian period, linking together scholars and literary works, different languages and different genres. Papers in this session will examine entanglements between England and the continent, Old English and Latin, and Alfredian prose and wisdom literature.
