Abstract

The living and the dead often have a complex relationship. This session considers the relationship between the long dead and the living, through two papers exploring, respectively, attempts to connect a Neapolitan family of the High Middle Ages to Antiquity, and medieval Icelanders contemplating the death of their pre-Christian kings.
