Abstract

This session will consider conceptual and historical approaches to medieval market structure. Speakers will provide their perspectives on the field, examples from their area of expertise, market features that they consider important, and their vision for the future of market structure studies. Speakers may identify markets in need of study and practical issues, such as archival materials. Speakers may consider market and financial language used, both medieval and modern. The session would encourage the development of a framework for market structure studies and a common understanding of key market features. It would also foster the expansion of a network and resources for medieval market structure studies.
