Abstract

This session explores the relatively neglected subjects of the beginnings and consequences of crusading in the Holy Roman Empire. Papers deal with the process by which crusaders were recruited by legates, preachers, and authors of literary texts, as well as the experience of the Holy Land and the different ways that this effected returning crusaders in the German-speaking areas and Bohemia.
