Abstract

This panel examines the intersection between medieval history and its impact on the contemporary world. Andrea Feliziani's paper analyses the medieval imagery of the film 'Bertoldo Bertoldino and Cacasenno' (1984), set in an imaginary 10th century, to explore how medievalism was understood by its creators and audience. Ruthann Mowry's paper analyses how witchcraft has been used and appropriated into popular culture as well as the impact this absorption has on the historical record.
