Abstract

During Late Antiquity, the two Great Powers engaged with one another in conflict and collaboration, and scholarship has largely focussed on generalship and battle narratives. Yet, it is also important to examine the political and military networks that were established at court and within the military/frontier communities itself. This panel will investigate some of these networks and aims to shed light on how these interactions and exchanges impact our understanding of Near Eastern affairs between the Romans and Sasanians.
