Abstract

The panel explores Dante's entanglements with the different modes of knowledge of medieval culture. It shows how Dante's depiction of the world in the Commedia, similar to that of other contemporary poets, is the result of a complex network of ideas and images inspired by knowledge and observation of both the natural and built environment, such as the organisation and signification of time and space.
