Abstract

This panel aims to examine the varied ways in which different clerical networks influenced and impacted the diplomatic and political objectives of the Capetian kings. The papers look at connections between secular and ecclesiastical power and how clerical networks could be embroiled in royal politics both inside and outside of Capetian France, including relations between king and papacy.
