IMC 2003: Sessions

Session 407: Medieval Unicode Font Initiative (MUFI) - A Round Table Discussion

Monday 14 July 2003, 19.30-20.30

Organiser:Odd Einar Haugen, Nordisk Institutt, Universitetet i Bergen
Abstract

At this meeting we would like to present Unicode fonts that can be used by medievalists, and exchange views and experiences with other scholars in the field.

The Medieval Unicode Font Initiative is a non-profit workgroup of scholars who would like to see a common solution to a problem felt by many medieval scholars: the encoding and display of special characters in Medieval texts written in the Latin alphabet. MUFI was founded at the International Medieval Congress in 2001 by Alec McAllister (Leeds), Odd Einar Haugen (Bergen) and Tarrin Wills (Sydney) with the aim of coordinating work on this field.
