IMC 2004: Sessions

Session 1421: Reading Chaucer Aloud: A Workshop

Wednesday 14 July 2004, 19.30-20.30

Sponsor:The Chaucer Studio
Organiser:Paul R. Thomas, Department of English, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah / The Chaucer Studio
Abstract

The Chaucer Studio is sponsoring one of its Reading Chaucer Aloud workshops at the IMC 2004. Leaders will work with five to seven readers
who will prepare a favourite passage of about 100 lines from one of Chaucer's tales. In addition, all participants will prepare to read a
selection chosen by the overall leader, Prof. Paul Thomas. Readers will receive individual attention to improve their reading of Chaucer's Middle
English. We will be happy to to teach both beginning and more advanced readers.

All interested readers should contact Prof. Paul Thomas via e-mail at paul_thomas@byu.edu, proposing the passage they would like to present to
the group. Experienced workshop leaders such as Tom Burton and Paul Thomas will be working with Chaucerians who want to improve their reading
aloud skills.
