Abstract

This session will examine some interactions of the Welsh with their Norman and English neighbours between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries. The paper will focus in particular on Welsh assimilation of external cultural and ecclesiastical influences and assess the significance of this for an understanding of the impact of Anglo-Norman domination and conquest.
