IMC 2004: Sessions

Session 925: Iconographic Round Table: Roles of Minority Cultures in Profane Imagery

Tuesday 13 July 2004, 19.30-20.30

Sponsor:Misericordia International
Organiser:Elaine C. Block, Misericordia International, Paris
Moderator/Chair:Frédéric Billiet, UFR Musicologie, Université Paris IV - Sorbonne
Abstract

This session will use the expertise of all the participants to identify the significance of visual images that one or more has found difficult to decipher. We request that the participants, whenever possible, send an email of the image they wish to investigate to Elaineblock1@aol.com or to frederic.billiet@wanadoo.fr
We will distribute a list of clues that may help to identify the theme of the image: attributes of minority cultures for example, relationships to manuscript and biblical illuminations, etc. The moderators will have a supply of profane images to use in the introductory part of the session. If the group is large it will be divided to maximize interaction.
