Abstract

This session unites three speakers who will (re-) consider the orthodoxy of the mysterious late Latin encyclopaedist and antiquarian Martianus Capella from different perspectives. His pagan doctrine of apokatastasis will be covered, also his attitudes to magic and theurgy, and last his relationship to Christianity. The session is intended to contribute to the Special Thematic Strand.
