Abstract

Christianity and Culture Project has, for the last ten years, been at the forefront of providing tools for students and teachers alike to understand the role and influence of Christianity in western culture, and continues to do so with demand growing year on year. The richness and diversity of liturgy, music, art, and use of architectural space, the experiential aspects of life in the church, are all areas that have hitherto received less attention than material culture and offer a rich seam for exploration and discussion. This session will explore the role of the church and its cultural development in literature, art, and society, an area which richly merits this cross-cutting approach to produce new insights and appreciation.
