Abstract

Few things travel better than coins. This session aims to analyse Anglo-Saxon coinage, an often overlooked source of information, with a view to interpreting the imagery they contain. Such an approach, done in the context of travel and exploration, promises to reveal insights into the political and cultural history of England and the Early Middle Ages.
