Abstract

This session will combine the study of one important commentary, with reflections on some of the general problems the commentators of the Book of Revelation had to deal with: the problem of biblical authorship, the problem of historicity, and the problem of spiritual seeing. Like the first session, this one wants to exemplify how the medieval readings of this biblical book can be used as a source in the study of a great number of subjects. The same is certainly the case for the other biblical books as well, however the interpretations of Revelation, as of a particularly difficult text, can be particularly revelatory.
