Abstract

This session explores the way in which textiles could represent the cultural exchanges that took place between the Muslim and the Christian worlds during the Middle Ages. In the first place there will be an overview of the evidence of textiles in the Iberian Peninsula that showed trade connections, then there will be three case studies of exchanges pertaining to the Fatimid and Andalusi textiles, and, finally, a series of Coptic textiles will be discussed through their journeys in the museums.
