Abstract | This session will explore the lives of Irish women of different social classes and cultural backgrounds during the medieval period, with particular emphasis on those who lived in Gaelic areas or within the marches: the contested area where English and Irish Ireland met. These papers will explore what it was like to be a woman in medieval Ireland, and examine the position that these women held in their various communities, as well as their ethnic origins. |
