Abstract

The first paper examines the documentary evidence for the rise and fall of the castrum of Focero' in north-eastern Sicily during the early Norman period. The second paper is a discussion of changes and continuities to settlement patterns in the Val Demone in the decades following the Norman take over of the region. The third paper will explore the interests of different groups and individuals within the Val Demone, assessing the extent of Norman control.
