Abstract

The cult of St Maurice and the Theban legion was one of the major martyr cults of Late Antique Gaul, and the monastery founded on the supposed site of the martyrdom at Agaune was one of the most influential of all early medieval monasteries. Barbara Rosenwein had written seminal studies of Agaune, and this collection of papers relating to the monastery and the cult of Maurice is a tribute to her work.
