Abstract

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SESSION WILL TAKE PLACE IN LEEDS UNIVERSITY UNION: MEETING ROOM 5

In a climate (at least in the UK) where pay discrepancies and gender quotas are legislated against, women still appear to be disadvantaged within academic contexts, in spite of appearing to fare well in initial employment stakes. Following on from last year's energetic round table, this year's session, co-sponsored for the first time with the UK-based Gender and Medieval Studies Group, focuses on some of the most pressing issues arising from that debate: namely employment, promotion and equal pay for equal work within medievalist academia.

Participants include Sarah Crawford (University of Sydney), Elizabeth Freeman (University of Tasmania), Elizabeth Robertson (University of Glasgow), and Patricia E. Skinner (Swansea University).
