Abstract

This session will address vernacular texts of the 12th century in England, considering issues of style and structure, and investigating what the concerns of those living after the Conquest actually were. Now that it is clear that reading and writing, preaching and discussing vernacular materials continued to the end of the 12th century, it may be worth taking a closer look at the texts themselves.
