Abstract

This session features three historians who have lately been engaged in the writing of academic books on the Third Crusade (1189-1192). Having examined the broad swath of the war, rather than just certain particulars, the speakers hope to engage the audience by offering new interpretations of its major aspects. In particular, the papers will center on military topics such as generalship, siege warfare, and military historiography.
