Paper 1055-b | Memory and Free Choice in Petrus Hispanus' Scientia libri de anima (Language: English) Index terms: Philosophy, Science |
Paper 1055-c | Abstraction and Memory in Petrus Hispanus' Commentary on the De anima (Language: English) Index terms: Philosophy, Science |
Abstract | Memory is a key internal sense in the psychological works attributed to Petrus Hispanus (13th C.): the textbook Scientia libri de anima and the Commentary on Aristotle's De anima. In this session both works will be discussed tackling philosophical problems relating memory and the constitution of human knowledge (e.g. abstraction and the role of sensitive and intellective memory) and free decision. Both works will be discussed to ascertain if they could have been written by one and the same author. |
